Comprehensive initial assessment, Personal Coach & Bespoke Training Plan
After signing up, Athletes are asked to complete details about their currently ability, goals and much more. When this information is returned to RunClever it is reviewed and the athlete is assigned a personal coach that we think will best meet their needs. The coach will then review the information and create a holistic 3 part plan for the athlete including; A bespoke training plan, Journey through the RunClever syllabus and ‘Wellbeing & Enhancing your experience’, which consists of tasks to complete to ensure you are able to get the most out of your time with RunClever.
From information on the forms and any other info provided, your coach will also map you onto our Outcome’s Framework for each HFI (Health and fitness indicator) and provide an overall H&F rating. This, in conjunction with the RunClever Ratings, will keep you informed on how you are progressing and make sure that motivation sticks with you.
Regular Assessments of Development
Your personal coach will be on hand to support and motivate you throughout your time in the RunClever Academy. When you are happy with your plan, your coach will send you a signed commitment from RunClever’s founder stating how we will look after you and that we will do our best to help support you achieve your goals and, encourage you to hold us to account on delivering our promises. You will be guided through your plan, and your coach will request information from you on how you are progressing and review this, to keep you on track.
100+ Module Fitness Syllabus
In most situations, people get the biggest return when support is bespoke, which is why we assign you a personal coach who will create your own unique plan. But there are some things that just don’t change from person to person, so we have created the most in-depth fitness syllabus available, for members to work their way through, all the way from beginners first steps to advanced technical and physiological lessons. This includes everything from components of fitness to energy systems to running etiquette, pacing and injuries. You can see the full list on the site.
Full Guides to clothing, accessories, technology, equipment, injuries and Nutrition
The RunClever main syllabus is not by means the only source of information for our athletes. The main syllabus takes you on a journey from your first steps to being a master of fitness, however there are some things you may need to know at any stage. This is true for areas such as Clothing & Accessories, Technology & Equipment, or Injuries and Nutrition. Which is why we have tools to cover each of these at your own leisure.
Support and guide to wellbeing and the mentality of fitness
People often focus on the physical action of running and wider fitness activities, completely ignoring the mental side. Do you want to know how marathon runners keep it together when running for so long, do you want to know how people cope with injuries or how to avoid over training? Well we have that covered too. Another big RunClever focus, which is one of our HFIs, is wellbeing. Someone who is stressed by fitness or over trains will do damage rather good, so as well as wellbeing forming part of your plan, we have the combined knowledge of our coaches set out to make sure anyone can keep on track.
RunClever ratings© and rankings – Unique ratings for all your runs. Compete against others for prizes.
By far the most intellectually demanding piece of work we did to set up the RunClever Academy was creating a tool that could analytically take apart any run done by any person and provide 2 unique ratings based on speed and cardiovascular ability. All you need to do is track your run with any standard GPS based app such as Strava or Runkeeper and send it to your coach. Your coach will then use our system, inputting your height, weight, run length, run time, elevation profile, surface and temperature etc. to provide you with a rating for each of your runs. After 3 runs you will be given an official RunClever Rating©. Then if you are competitive or inquisitive, you can opt-in to our leaderboard and compare your rating to others and be in with a chance of winning prizes every month.
Your rating history will be available on your profile page so you can view your progress or show it off to others. After the number of runs start to rack up, you or your coach may start to be able to identify what distance or type of runs you are naturally better at (it’s all to do with those muscle fibres!).
The world’s biggest and best fitness glossary
The world of fitness is a minefield, you will hear terms thrown around either from RunClever, elsewhere on the internet or in the real world, that you won’t understand! No big deal, we hear new ones everyday too, and when we do, we research exactly what they mean and add them to our glossary. We take pride in the fact that no one else in the world offers one as big as us.
Training Session builder
Our experienced, qualified and accredited coaching team spent months putting their heads together to create over 100 warm ups, technical exercises, fitness sessions and cool downs. For each of these we have in depth guides on how to complete them and information on how they help you progress. We also designed a tool to help you match up different elements to form the most beneficial and safe sessions. This will all be available to you to try out as and when you please, as well as being some of the building blocks of your bespoke training plan.
How to Race – From 1 mile to 26.2 miles
What is the best way to run a 5km? All out from the start, gradually get faster, start slow and get into a sprint? Running a mile is not the same as running 2 miles, which isn’t the same as running 3, 4, 5 or more miles. At each of these distances there are right and wrong ways to handle a race and we can take you through everything you need to know to make sure you get it right!
UK & International Race Calendar, Reviews and Guide to a typical Race day
We keep an up to date Calendar of the UKs biggest races and even some of the top International ones too in case you ever fancy popping over to Paris or New York to sample what they have to offer. But what’s the point in us setting out all the great races the UK has to offer and not tell you how to run them? We start off with a general guide of what to expect on any organised race day for those who have never had the pleasure and where a member of the RunClever team has run a major race, we can tell you everything you need to know.
Route directory & Planning tool
This is a tricky one for us, as the athletes in our running academy are based not just throughout Britain, but all over the world. So not only do we have a route directory with video tours in some of the UKs most iconic locations, but we have a route specialist who can work with you to identify some great new routes in your area. On top of this we provide a guide on what to look for in a running route and how it links to building your fitness. Are hills good for speed or stamina? Does a downhill only route really lengthen your stride? What is the benefit or repeating a loop? You’ll have to sign up to find out!
RunClever labs
We’re better than the rest for many reasons, and one of those reasons is we never stop trying to find innovative ways to improve our running academy and service. If you have a look back up the list of what we offer, you will see things here that you can’t get elsewhere, no matter how hard you look. When you sign up, you’ll be given the chance to get involved with RunClever labs, which is the innovation arm of what we do that is working with athletes to develop new and exciting ways of improving your fitness and how to bring them in to the RunClever offer.
