‘Personal Run Rating’ and ‘Speed Rating’ for every run

You can upload details of any run to be given both a unique ‘Personal Run Rating’ (PRR) and ‘True Speed’ Rating (TS) to allow you to know how good the run was and compare it to any other run, at any other distance you or anyone else has ever done. Based on our incredible algorithms, this tool can analytically take apart any run done by any person and provide these 2 unique ratings based on pure speed and cardiovascular ability. All you need to do is track your run with any standard GPS tracking app to provide details such as run distance, run time, elevation, temperature and surface and let us do the rest.

Instant analysis of Strava run data

You can even connect your Strava account with two clicks and not only sync your historical runs from Strava, but automatically pull any future runs across too without you having to lift a finger. All your runs will be given both a unique ‘Personal Run Rating’ (PRR) and ‘True Speed’ Rating (TS) to allow you to know how good the run was and compare it to any other run, at any other distance you or anyone else has ever done.

Cardiorespiratory Fitness Tracking

Not only can you upload any run for analysis, but based of research, we have set out 3 specific tests / data that can provide the best insight into your overall fitness. These are your resting heart rate (RHR), how far you can run in 6 minutes and how far you can run in 12 minutes (also known as the Cooper test). These cover the right blend of each of your different energy systems, as well as speed and endurance to know where you really stand in terms of fitness.

Official RunClever Athlete Rating

Based on the profile of your recent PRRs, we set out your ‘Official RunClever Rating’ (ORR). This rating provides with a snapshot of your running ability and how you compare to the rest of the world, using our ORR categorisation. You can track your ORR and see how you have improved from day 1, to help you keep up your motivation, as well as see where you rank against hundreds of other RunClever athletes in our live rankings.

Analysis of your most effective distance

Yet more fancy algorithms assess your data every time you do a new run and tell you what distance you are most effective at. You can also see the ranges of distance where you are still 80% and 90% effective.

Temperature efficiency rating & Elevation efficiency rating

The same set of algorithms take all your data and analyse what impact running at warmer or colder temperatures has on your performance, as well as doing the same for elevation. This allows your to adapt your training to get the most out of each and every run.

Consistency Rating

The consistency of your runs is also analysed, to see if you are training effectively, or whether you’re not quite getting it right, resulting in wild spikes in performance.

Personal Fitness Dashboard & Analytics

All of this comes together in your personal fitness dashboard and your fitness analytics page. You can see all your historical data displayed in tables and charts, giving you a completely unique insight into your fitness. Here, you can also see where your PBs rank in the RunClever community.

Bespoke gear recommendations

Based on the details you provide on the ‘Athlete Profile’ section of your hub, in conjunction with all your running data, we provide personal gear recommendations that will help you advance as a runner.

RunClever Ratings ©

We’ve already told you about the incredible algorithms that analyse your runs and provide PRR and TS ratings that can be used to rate and compare any runs anyone has ever done. This is the essence of RunClever and what we do – big data to analyse and improve.

RunClever Athlete ratings and rankings

We provide you with a PRR and TS rating for every run, as well as a live ORR, that summaries your running ability into one number. That number gives you what is in essence a handicap rating, which means we could confidently line all of our athletes up for a race and set you all off at different times, and have you cross the line together. Whilst we can’t do that in practice (there would be too many of you!), what we can do is provide a table of everyone’s rankings, so the competitor in you can watch as someone overtakes you, giving you the motivation to go out and put in a PB in your next run and shoot back up the table.

All time and annual run ratings tables

It’s not just a live ranking of ORRs we provide, you can view the best PRR and TS ratings ever achieved by RunClever athletes, which can be viewed by year, or out all time records since we moved to our new platform in 2022.

RunClever Academy

We’re not just about sending you out for runs and analysing the results. We also do education through our RunClever Academy. Whereas a lot of our features are bespoke to you, there are some things that just don’t change from person to person. So, we have created an in-depth fitness syllabus that is available to work your way through at your own leisure. There are 18 sections available to all Athletes. With a further 30 advanced sections for those working with a RunClever coach.

RunClever Academy Learning Hub

The Learning Hub is a comprehensive running education covering everything from technical elements of running including form, gait, effective changes of pace and direction, to running in practice covering etiquette, safety and training. There are 18 sections available to all Athletes, with a further 30 advanced sections for those working with a RunClever coach.

Mentality of Fitness

People often focus on the physical action of running and wider fitness activities, completely ignoring the mental side. Do you want to learn the secrets of how marathon runners keep it together when running for so long? Do you want to know how people cope with injuries? Or how to avoid over training? Well, we have that covered too.

Inclusive Fitness

Running is for everyone, and we need to make sure it stays that way. Delve into the world of inclusive fitness to understand more about how we can overcome challenges relating to age, socioeconomic background and physical disabilities, which are the three biggest remaining barriers to fully engaging in the running community.

Technical Running Frameworks

We also offer two Technical Frameworks to summarise how you should run in practice. These govern correct running form and gait, and how to effective take certain technical actions such as changing pace or direction.

RunClever Tools

Performance, Education and Practical Tools…? Wow, we really are offering it all.

Training Session Builder

Our experienced, qualified and accredited coaching team spent months putting their heads together to create a massive array of warm ups, fitness sessions and cool downs. For each of these we have in depth guides on how to complete them and information on how they help you progress. We also designed a tool to help you match up different elements to form the most beneficial sessions for you.

Race calendar

We keep an up-to-date Calendar of the UKs biggest races. There are sign-up links to each of these races to make the process as simple as possible for you.

Best running routes for all major cities

Through local knowledge and running expeditions, we have set out what we think are the best running routes in the UKs 21 biggest towns and cities. Richmond Park, The Quayside, Roundhay? You’ll have to sign up to find out.

Guides to every race distance

What is the best way to run a 5km? All out from the start, gradually get faster, start slow and get into a sprint? Running a mile is not the same as running a 5km miles, which isn’t the same as running a 10km, Half or Marathon. At each of these distances there are right and wrong ways to handle a race and we can take you through everything you need to know to make sure you get it right.

Guides to running all major races

We’ve sent people out to run the 28 biggest Marathons and Half Marathons in the UK and they’ve set out what they’ve learned and the top tips for each of these races, so you know what to expect when you do them.

Injuries tool

Injuries happen, and it’s very annoying when they do. So we have a tool to provide general information about the most common running injuries, so you can be as informed as possible (please note nothing in this tool or the website as a whole constitutes medical advice, and a medical professional should always be consulted).

Running Glossary

The world of fitness is a minefield, you will hear terms thrown around either from RunClever, elsewhere on the internet or in the real world, that you won’t understand! No big deal, we hear new ones everyday too, and when we do, we research exactly what they mean and add them to our glossary. We take pride in the fact that no one else in the world offers one as big as us.

Latest Running news and views

We keep on top of all the latest happenings in the running world, and if they are relevant to you, we will pass them on. But really, we try and focus on the practical things that matter to you.
